Oct 21, AM in response to crutchy In response to crutchy. You can always downgrade to a previous version of OS X assuming you either have a bootable clone of it or you use Time Machine. There are many articles online that explain how to do so. However, my experience has been that if your device ran on Yosemite, it should be fine with El Capitan too.

Oct 21, AM in response to rkaufmann87 In response to rkaufmann I have not got my new iMac yet but RK's comment that if it works on Yosemite it may well work on El C reminded me of a previous work around. Then I found a webpage from a guy and sorry cannot recollect his name to thank him if this works for you and me , I was directed to the Canon website. See below. Now whether it will work with El Cap I do not know.

The perfect printing solution for your Canon PIXMA MP970

Try it and see. Your latest driver is for Mountain Lion. Thanks for this suggestion, but it looks like when you go to download the driver you are getting one for OS versions It appears that you have to go back to a much older version of the driver to have it work with that model, which would make it a driver that doesn't work with El Capitan. I may give it a try or just give in and go with a newer printer.

More suggestions welcome. Thanks, again. Apple also suggested this, but it would be a major process to go through. Maybe will consider it. Oct 21, PM in response to crutchy In response to crutchy. Canon PIXMA MP Driver & Software Download Driver Printer Canon

Oct 21, PM in response to mto2power In response to mto2power. No, you do not have to reload Yosemite, that would be a pain, and hours wasted. You are downloading an "old" printer driver, in your case for Mountain Lion, in my case even earlier for Snow Leopard. You then install it on your current operating system. All I can tell you is that Yosemite did not say to me "hey guy that driver is for Snow Leopard, be off with you".
